Description

This is a series of worksheets to review customary and metric length measurement. Each worksheet has students read measurements on customary and metric rulers (no rulers necessary - included on worksheets), make conversions within a system, and estimate the lengths of objects in their lives. Designed to be done periodically after students have been taught a short length unit. Excellent real world application of fraction and decimal concepts. Great for integrating math with science activities! All questions tied to Common Core standards. Appropriate intervention for students that need additional review and support. Worksheets can also be used as mini-assessments. Also includes one page that is blank so teachers can continue to create more worksheets if students need more practice.

Generate measurement data by measuring lengths using rulers marked with halves and fourths of an inch. Show the data by making a line plot, where the horizontal scale is marked off in appropriate units-whole numbers, halves, or quarters.
Know relative sizes of measurement units within one system of units including km, m, cm; kg, g; lb, oz.; l, ml; hr, min, sec. Within a single system of measurement, express measurements in a larger unit in terms of a smaller unit. Record measurement equivalents in a two-column table. For example, know that 1 ft is 12 times as long as 1 in. Express the length of a 4 ft snake as 48 in. Generate a conversion table for feet and inches listing the number pairs (1, 12), (2, 24), (3, 36),...
Use decimal notation for fractions with denominators 10 or 100. For example, rewrite 0.62 as 62/100; describe a length as 0.62 meters; locate 0.62 on a number line diagram.
