Description

These measurement conversion fans are the perfect tool for students to use while learning how to convert measurements! My students keep these fans in their desks and binders for a quick and easy reference. You may not need all the fans included in the download. If not, you could easily pick and choose the fans that you need for your students. There are 9 fans in all. I've also included a page of blank fans for you to add other measurements that may be needed for your students.

⭐This free resource now includes an EDITABLE VERSION!

Fans included:

Customary Length - Inch, Foot, Yard

Customary Weight - Ounce, Pound, Ton

Customary Capacity (Liquid Volume) - Cup, Pint, Quart, Gallon

Metric Length - Millimeter, Centimeter, Meter, Kilometer

Metric Weight (Mass) - Milligram, Gram, Kilogram

Metric Capacity - Milliliter, Liter

Clock Time - Second, Minute, Hour

Calendar Time - Day, Week, Month, Year

Periods of Time - Decade, Century, Millennium

How to use this product:

Copy each page (there are 3 pages of fans) on a separate piece of colored construction paper or card stock. Each page must be on a different color. Have students cut out each fan piece and follow the directions to write the categories on the back. Connect the fan together with a brass brad.

Optional Use:

I've included "fill in the blank" fans. Students fill in the missing measurements and then follow the directions to cut out the fan and write the appropriate categories on the back. It's a great assessment tool! :)

Know relative sizes of measurement units within one system of units including km, m, cm; kg, g; lb, oz.; l, ml; hr, min, sec. Within a single system of measurement, express measurements in a larger unit in terms of a smaller unit. Record measurement equivalents in a two-column table. For example, know that 1 ft is 12 times as long as 1 in. Express the length of a 4 ft snake as 48 in. Generate a conversion table for feet and inches listing the number pairs (1, 12), (2, 24), (3, 36),...
Use the four operations to solve word problems involving distances, intervals of time, liquid volumes, masses of objects, and money, including problems involving simple fractions or decimals, and problems that require expressing measurements given in a larger unit in terms of a smaller unit. Represent measurement quantities using diagrams such as number line diagrams that feature a measurement scale.
