What educators are saying
Description
Looking for a great way to begin the school year? This GOOGLE SLIDES student journal focuses on exploring self-identity and consists of 2 parts: "What is Identity?" and "Exploring my Own Identity."
About this Resource (Google Slides)
This resource is designed for students in upper elementary/middle school and meant to be an INTRODUCTION to exploring identity. It is simply a place to start, not the be-all end-all.
This resource is a student journal, which means it includes spaces for students to reflect on important concepts regarding identity. However, this is not a journal you should assign without context, support, and discussion. Some of the words/topics may be new to students and their questions must be addressed.
As it is an introduction to identity, the journal does address important concepts, but does not dive into specific definitions including different aspects of identity such as race, ethnicity, and gender. Please understand that this is work you need to do with your students: engage them in meaningful conversations.
