What is Accountable Talk?
Accountable talk is a way to help your students learn how to engage in an academic dialogue. It helps them learn how to ask questions, respectfully disagree, share ideas, ask for clarification, make a connection, and extend their thinking.
How to Use Accountable Talk
Explicitly teach your students how to engage in discussions. This can be done using the posters, bookmarks, anchor charts, flip cards, or bulletin board displays. Model how to engage in a discussion and then have students practice with a partner and in small groups.
Why Use Accountable Talk?
Accountable talk helps ensure students KNOW how to have discussions about topics and keeps them ENGAGED in the conversation. Too often, we assume our students are goofing off or distracted when they really just don't know how to talk about an academic subject. This pack will help solve that problem!
Why Teachers LOVE This Product:
- It helps students learn how to have strong math discussions

Please Note: This pack is similar to my Accountable Talk for Group Discussions. The literacy questions and prompts from that pack have been changed to fit a math discussion. There will be some pages that are the same in both packs.
