Description

WHO WAS DR. KING? - A BEGINNING BIOGRAPHY ABOUT MLK, JR.

This beginning biography about Martin Luther King, Jr. is a great addition to your lesson plans about biographies, informational text, historical figures, the civil rights movement, or Black History Month.

It was written for my first grade students, but will also work with high kindergarten readers and with 2nd grade children who need a little extra support.

The informational text includes several high frequency words and bolded key vocabulary words.

  • segregated
  • rights
  • fairness
  • preacher
  • speeches
  • honor

There are also two open-ended student response comprehension worksheets following the text. The prompts require the children to closely reread the text, synthesizing information and understanding new vocabulary.

See the PREVIEW and scroll for a closer look at all the pages in the resource.
