Inspiration:

Navigating informational text can be a challenging concept for ALL students. By turning this reading skill into a mini-lesson, you will enhance student understanding and make reading informational text more manageable. Use these color-coded task cards to help students navigate informational text more effectively in: a center, for independent, partner, or small group work.

Simply:

• Print out pages using a color printer.

• Laminate task cards to make them more durable.

• Cut the cards and place them into groups based on color.

• Print out the Student Answer Document.

• Determine if you are having students work independently, in partners, or in small groups.

• Pass out a set of color-coded task cards and answer strips.

• Students will read the selection on each card, select the multiple-choice answer that best answers the question, and record their answer.

• Students will turn in their answer strips to be evaluated.

• Rotate students to use the next set of cards for the next word work session.
