March Music Madness | Music Meter Activities BUNDLE | Time Signature Activity

Are you looking for a fun and engaging way to review meter and time signature with your elementary music students? This bundle of March Music Meter Lessons is a great way for students to practice time signature and meter identification in a fun and interactive way!

There are three main activities included in this Meter Madness Bundle!

First, you'll receive a Meter Madness Relay Race Game. Students are divided into 2-4 teams (depending on class size). The teacher uses the Rhythm List to call out a certain rhythm. One person from each time races to find that rhythm or meter in the stack of cards in the middle. The first team back receives a point. The team with the most points at the end of the game is the winner! No problem! Instead of calling out the time signature, simply call out the rhythm and have the students find it!

Next, a Meter Madness Task Card Sorting Activity. This meter task card sort helps students recognize durations and how they fit into each meter or time signature. 40 task cards with standard notation rhythms are included. Students read the rhythms on each card and sort them into the correct meter stack. As an extension activity, students can play each of the rhythms on instruments or write them on a separate page to practice writing rhythms.

Finally, a set of Meter Madness Music Composition Cards & Beat Strips. Students will use basketball themed words to create compositions in given meters.There are many ways to use these composition cards including: rhythm reading, rhythm writing, rhythmic dictation, rhythm composition, improvisation and more!
