”Where Will Leprechaun Read?” A Positional Words Emergent Reader and Response Activities Reinforce sight words, positional words, and writing a response with this fun and engaging emergent reader! My 14 page "Where Will Leprechaun Read?" mini book practices the sight words will, his, new, little, where, and positional words on, in, under, in front of, behind, next to, above, below, beside, between, and over. The story features predictable text and shows the position of leprechaun reading his new book in different settings. I have included two writing activities. Students will draw a picture of their favorite place to read and write a matching sentence. Students will predict where leprechaun will read next. They will draw a picture and write a matching sentence. Also included is a color by sight word page, practicing the sight words from this book.

Students will follow little leprechaun, as he collects gold coins for his pot. Once he has five, he is off to hide them. I have included 4 response activities. In the first response activity, students will read sentences and draw the correct number of coins in the pot to match each sentence. In the second, students will draw pictures showing the beginning, middle, and end, and write sentences to match. In the third, students will predict where leprechaun will hide his gold. They will draw a picture and write a sentence to match. Last, they will draw and write where they would hide a pot of gold.

Students will recall the steps leprechaun followed to make his green juice. They will cut and glue the steps in order. Given the main idea, students will draw four details from the text. Students will draw a picture of what they would use to make green juice and write a sentence to match. Students will also draw and write to create a 4 step "How to Make Green Juice" flip book.
