Rooted in Lewis' personal story, it also reflects on the highs and lows of the broader civil rights movement.

Summary

This book is a graphic novel for high school students. The novel is short and can be read independently. Congressman John Lewis (Ga) shares us remarkable story with collaboration with co-writer Andrew Aydin and artist Nate Powell. Book One spans Congress Lewis’ youth in rural Alabama, his life-changing meeting with Martin Luther King, Jr., the birth of the Nashville Student Movement, and the “lunch counter” sit-ins.
