Description

Fun activity to have students investigate and calculate probability.

Using a Plinko-style board, students predict where the marble will drop. Probabilities are then found by breaking the board down into smaller versions and seeing how it relates to Pascal's Triangle to be able to determine the probabilities.

There are questions related to the marble drop and probability, some questions about Plinko and an extension using The Wall game show.

SMART Notebook presentation, word document and pdf version of worksheets, and answer keys all included.

Find probabilities of compound events using organized lists, tables, tree diagrams, and simulation.
Understand that two events 𝘈 and 𝘉 are independent if the probability of 𝘈 and 𝘉 occurring together is the product of their probabilities, and use this characterization to determine if they are independent.
Recognize and explain the concepts of conditional probability and independence in everyday language and everyday situations. For example, compare the chance of having lung cancer if you are a smoker with the chance of being a smoker if you have lung cancer.
