What educators are saying

I've been loving using this for my 1st graders during our morning meetings to help guide our monthly trait discussions.

Description

This Manners Matter product is packed with posters and activities that you can use to teach your children at school or at home how to use proper manners and how to be polite in social settings.

I polled my family, teacher friends, parents of students in my class and friends on Facebook and asked them what manners they thought that kids should be taught or that they were not displaying. I came up with 96 posters with manners on them for you to use to teach your students or children how to act appropriately in social situations.

You will begin by using the anchor chart posters in this pack and will be jotting down what your kids know about using manners at home, at school, in public, on the playground, at the dinner table, etc.

After filling out what the kids know, you will start by going over each of the 96 posters with your class/child. You can display them in your classroom and at home and point out when kids are using the proper manners.

After introducing all 96 posters, you will read the Manners DO's and DON'T cards with your kids and you will have them tell you if the actions on the cards are ones they should do or that they should not do. You will sort them under the correct heading.

There is another set of cards with the manners on them. You will sort them into the correct columns if they should do these manners at home, at school, at the dinner table, on the playground or in all settings.

There is a note for you to send to your coworkers and parents asking them to watch your kids to see if they are using the correct manners. If they catch them using their manners, they will email you or let you know. You will fill out a slip for your child and put it in the Manners Matter box. For each slip your child gets, they will add a sticker to an incentive chart. Once they have 10 stickers, they can earn a prize that you determine. Once their sheet is filled, they will get a Manners certificate and will get to decorate a crown to wear.

In this pack is a mini book with "I Can" pages of manners that kids can follow.

Finally there is an assessment for you to give your kids after you have done all the posters.

The posters and anchor charts are in color and in black and white.
