    WHAT'S INCLUDED:

My goal was to make it easy to teach readers how to think about books through the lens of comprehension strategies. This book bundle will help you teach readers how to make inferences while reading popular picture books for second-grade readers. You’ll get the following set of resources for each book:

    • A four-step lesson plan with text-specific questions aligned to making inferences comprehension reading strategy
    • Guided practice worksheets and answer keys
    • Strategy graphic organizers
    • A text-specific reader's notebook prompt with optional "I Can" statements and Common Core alignment

Each set includes questions to activate background knowledge, key vocabulary words and definitions, and strategy-focused questions – all essential for helping readers develop strong literacy skills.

    Extras:

    • Spanish versions of the comprehension strategy practice pages, reader's notebook prompts (complete with Spanish "I Can" statements) for use with Amazing Grace, Fly Away Home, Peppe the Lamplighter, and The Rainbow Fish.

    • Making Inferences Poster for your classroom library. Hang the poster in your classroom to remind your students what good readers do. You could also make copies of the covers of each of the books used in this book bundle and hang them with the poster to remind students of the work they did while reading each of the books.

    BONUS RESOURCES:

    • Making Inferences Task Cards Use this set of 18 task cards to encourage students to ask questions while reading. This flexible resource can easily be used during centers or during Reader's Workshop. With tasks for both beginning and advanced readers, every student in your class will have an opportunity to sharpen their inferencing skills. This set of cards comes complete with a coordinating back of card design and can be used with any book.

    • Surprise Sample Resource In addition to the comprehension strategy resource sets for Amazing Grace, Fly Away Home, Peppe the Lamplighter, and The Rainbow Fish, you'll also get a surprise resource to pair with another popular children's book!

I hope that these BookPagez resources make it easier to use Amazing Grace, Fly Away Home, Peppe the Lamplighter, and The Rainbow Fish to teach your students how to make inferences while reading.

    Note:

A copy of the book is not included in this resource set. You will need your own copy/copies of the book.
