What educators are saying

These are very helpful for teaching inference making skills along with using a visuals instead of just text. For my visual learners this is huge. Thank you!
Pictures are a great way to elicit inferences from students, while differentiating them from observations.

Description

Do your students have trouble making inferences from stories? Ever thought about having them make inferences based on a picture? This resource with pictures is a great pre-lesson to moving to text inferencing!

In this making inferences resource students are asked to make inferences based on pictures that they see. This is a great way to start kids off with inferencing before moving to text! Easy to print and use with your students either with the whole class or small groups.

When students begin to make inferences, they use their schema, what they are given (either in a picture, or written text), and then proceed to make a guess or inference.

Each page in this resource leads students to follow that structure by guiding them through an organizer with question prompts such as "what do they already know?" and "what do they see in the picture?". Then students are lead to make an inference based on their first two answers. Can be self directed once students know the structure!

Here is what you will get:

  • one page with a basic illustration/guide for students on how to make and inference.
  • 10 pages with pictures and question organizers
  • Paper and Digital Version (Google Slides™)

You students will love the ease of working with the organizer and the real life photos to make inferences!

Easy Prep! Print and go. Can be printed in color for optimal photo quality, however, a black and white copy works just as well for student engagement!
