Additional Information For Use:
Depending on the level of your students, you will use these differently. In my own first grade class, I read the passage aloud to them 2-3 times. By doing this, we were able to focus on listening to the story, and then really listening for the main idea and supporting details. Students were able to write their answers; however, I did read the questions. In 2nd grade, many of your students will be able to read this text on their own. However, I do recommend reading to your students who cannot read the passages yet. The important part is that they are identifying the main topic and supporting details of the text.
Use these main idea reading passages for independent work, morning work, homework, guided reading groups, assessments, or reading centers. These are simple to leave for a sub as well!
Teachers just like you said:
"These are really well done. I used them in my second grade class across all levels. They were challenging enough for my above level students yet understandable to my average and struggling learners. Highly recommend!" -Kristin L.
"I've been using this with my students to help reinforce and assess skills previously taught. They are engaged and learning! Thank you!" -Emily A.
