This is a great research project guaranteed to hold your student's interests.Students gain understanding of how professional anthropologists use skills and knowledge from three content areas: science, social studies and English. Students will use scientific inquiry to synthesize and evaluate information.

Early discoveries of mummified remains focused on the mummies themselves and the artifacts found with them were largely ignored. Today scientists recognize mummification can easily be explained by science. The real story of the mummies lies within the artifacts found with them. Students will have the opportunity to do guided research on one of 14 mummies. A range of different types of mummies are represented ranging from embalmed to bog to ice. Students will be horrified and fascinated as they research and learn about life long ago through artifacts. Fourteen different booklets are included along with a guided fact-finding sheet,links to websites, notes on mummification and a well designed assessment rubric. This project will be one of your student's favorite this year.
