Description
This product includes a colorful and engaging Smart Notebook as well as a worksheet. The worksheet guides students through sorting M & M's, writing the quantities of fractions and then comparing their numbers with others using addition and subtraction of fractions. This project could be made easier by giving everyone the same number of M & M's or more difficult giving everyone a different number and then having to find common denominators. The Notebook is used to demonstrate the assignment and give interesting facts and graphics about M & M's

Add and subtract fractions with unlike denominators (including mixed numbers) by replacing given fractions with equivalent fractions in such a way as to produce an equivalent sum or difference of fractions with like denominators. For example, 2/3 + 5/4 = 8/12 + 15/12 = 23/12. (In general, 𝘢/𝘣 + 𝘤/𝘥 = (𝘢𝘥 + 𝘣𝘤)/𝘣𝘥.)
