Description

In this unit, students learn to deepen the meaning behind their reading work, to strengthen the conversations of their partner work, and dive deep into the expression of their writing work. This unit prepares children to write information texts. They will write lots of information books about lots of different topics of choice and will revisit his/ her writing to self-assess and revise, as expected by the Common Core State Standards. This unit is designed to give children the support and practice they will need to organize their information; again and again over the course of the unit.

*These slides go directly with the Lucy Calkins Nonfiction Chapter Books (Grade 1/ Unit 2), you need the actual teacher manual as a guide for the specifics of the lessons. The Smart Board slides are a visual (as teachers, we know that all children benefit from a visual reminder!) which goes through the main parts of each lesson!

This is the unit that goes with the first grade series, but I just finished using it with my 2nd graders and it was a perfect.

*You must have Smart Board digital software on your computer to open this product!
