What educators are saying

Love love love!!! I use this every year, my students LOVE it! It's fun to teach, and it's well put together! Thank you!
Our twins just finished a unit on airplanes (and making paper airplanes), so when they saw this bat activity they were really excited. I love the various activities.

Description

Looking for something fun and easy to keep your students engaged this Halloween? In this low prep STEM activity, students design and build paper bat wings to see which ones can fly the farthest. Students follow the engineering design process to build, test, and improve their design. Simple easy to find materials: black paper, tape, straws, and scissors.

After completing the STEM activity, learn about bat adaptations by reading a short passage and playing a simple whole class game that requires no prep! A fun way to get students moving! There are two options for the activity - making straw powered bat wings or a simpler paper airplane style wing. This is a great addition to any halloween party. This is a fun way to tie bats, STEM, and science into the curriculum.
