What educators are saying

I found this very valuable as not many resources are out there for pet losses and this one is fantastic. Helps the little ones remember and feel close to the pet they lost.
I am so glad I have this resource, I use it all the time. Losing a beloved pet happens so often in the elementary years and it is often my student's first experience with death. It is so nice to have a hands on activity they can do to start to process their big feelings. Thank you so much.

Description

Offer elementary students who have experienced the loss of a pet a printable Pet Memory Journal as a tangible keepsake of their beloved pet. Use in individual counseling or a grief and loss group counseling session for students grieving the loss of a pet while in kindergarden, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, or 5th grade.

Some of the earliest losses experienced by our young students include the loss of a pet. Helping a child to process complex feelings and questions can be invaluable in the experience of grief. This pet loss resource offers your students a tangible way to remember and celebrate their special pets.

School counselors, school psychologists, social workers, and teachers can help support students with this journal and send it home to continue the conversation with parents, caregivers, and other family members.

This 44-page page resource can be printed in its entirety as a memory book or simply print the individual pages you need. Your students can include photographs or their own drawings of their pet, and pet clipart (color and blackline) is included in the journal. Students can select the image, cut it out, and glue it into the journal.

Customize the journal cover with 7 options to choose from, ranging from full-color, to minimal color, to black & white.

Was the pet a class pet? You'll have instant access to the BONUS 10-page Class Pet Memory Journal included in your download.

I had three students lose a pet within a week and a half of each other. Only one of them wanted to talk about it so I wanted to find a way for them to express their feelings in a way that felt safe and comfortable for them. This journal was perfect and it had so many pages in it to choose which ones fit best for each of my students. I love that this packet included pages which prompted the students to write or draw about their feelings and emotions! Well done! - Denise P.

It was quite useful to be able to work through this pet memory book to help my students process the loss of their pets, and I love the options to use black and white clip art pictures or to be able to paste in images of the students' actual pets. Thanks for the great resource! - Lori W.

This is such a sweet little memory journal.  I needed one for a current client and when I was getting it ready to send to her, I decided that I needed to do it myself as I lost a beloved pet a few months back.  It is going to be a tender experience for me to do this with my client. - The Play Counselor
