What educators are saying

The kids loved this! There were plenty of resources in this for me to use it for an entire month without the kids getting bored/restless.
Loved using this resource with LBT's Valentine book! The visuals were great and I could use this resource with a variety of students and goals. The students loved the visual aids to retell the story! Thanks!

Description

Make planning your Valentine's Day themed therapy a breeze with a variety of easy-to-implement activities (with a lot of no prep options!) for your preschool speech therapy caseload using this book companion for "Little Blue Truck's Valentine"

Read below to see what's included and how these materials will help you plan Valentine-themed therapy in no time!

  • Book Targets "At a Glance" Outline:
    • list of the language skills you can target with just the book itself

  • Story prop printables: Valentine cards to match the story, a blue truck, and a barn. I like to attach the blue truck to the outside of a sensory bin, place the cards inside the bin, and then drive it around to different farm animals to deliver the cards.

  • Thematic Vocabulary:
    • Story Map: Story Smash Mat
    • Story Vocabulary Cards (animals + truck): 1 set of clip art images and 1 set of real photos. Match the 2 types together or match with farm animal toys.
    • Object function cards: object cards to work on functions for story + Valentine's vocabulary. Leave the verb sheet whole and use it to match or help describe the object function.

  • Verb Cards: 20 photos of farm animal actions to work on -ing verbs. Pair with toys and act out verbs with corresponding farm animal toys. Research-backed! (With research included)

  • WH Question Mats: 12 "What" questions, 12 "Who" questions, 6 "Where" questions. Leave whole for no prep or cut apart for sensory bins. 2 visual choices for each answer are included on each card.

  • Basic Concept Dough Mats: 8 mats. Target concepts "big" "small" "tall" "short" "long" "same" and "different." Great for pushing in to the classroom during fine motor times and math groups!

  • Story Time at Home: Print and Go story retell sheet— text prompts are included to help caregivers facilitate story retell at home, too! A version without text is included, too.

  • S-Blend Carrier Phrase Mats (6: /sm, sn, sp, st, sk, sw/): Use these mats to work on s-blends in phrases, or as carrier phrases for other target sounds. Place target cards or mini objects in the blank box. Print 2 to a page or leave whole for a no prep option!

  • Speech Sound Trial Strips (6). Cut out individual strips or leave whole for a no prep option. Place manipulatives on the 10 circles/objects per strip

  • Dot Marker pages: 1 open-ended page

  • 2 pages of morpheme target suggestions with research

  • 2 pages of additional therapy ideas related to the book/theme
