INCLUDED WITH YOUR PURCHASE:
- Listening Skills Survey: The survey gives students a chance to take a look at their strengths and weaknesses when it comes to listening. After taking the survey, the students complete a short reflection in which they determine steps they can take to improve their listening skills.
- Communication Graphic Organizer: Students are taught the difference between verbal and nonverbal signals and how noticing those signals can help with their listening skills. The graphic organizer includes four verbal signals and four nonverbal signals. A completed map is provided for use as a teacher's guide.
- Listening Skills Activity: The listening skills activity is composed of two listening comprehension passages. After listening to each passage, students answer questions based on the reading.
- Listening Skills Assessment: The listening skills assessment is set up just like the listening activity. Students will listen to two passages and answer questions after each passage. After completing the unit activities and assessment, it will be clear as to which students need additional support in building their listening skills.
- Active Listening Classroom Poster: An active listening checklist in the classroom will help to reinforce listening skills on a daily basis. The goal is for students to internalize the checklist and automatically monitor their own behavior when it's time to actively listen.
