What educators are saying

Great lessons for linear equations. I like how the unit is set up and lessons delivered to students. Great notes and practice.
As a teacher and homeschooler mom, I really appreciate this resource. It has everything I need for my daughter to review the linear functions. It brings the scope and sequence, the work sheets, quizzes and test, plus the answers of ALL the exercises. Thank you for your work!

Description

20 DAYS of GRAPHING and WRITING Linear Functions AND Scatter Plots and Trend Lines! With 20 days of Linear Functions and Equations, this large unit covers ALL aspects of the most heavily tested Algebra 1 function.

The Linear Functions Unit has been updated with a fresh look, new answer keys, a variety of options and now includes a Google Forms and TPT Easel version of the unit test!

THE LINEAR FUNCTIONS UNIT INCLUDES:

  • 15 lessons and assignments
  • online tutorial videos
  • 2 quizzes (A & B versions each)
  • 16 warmups
  • PowerPoint display that also includes warmups and assignment answer keys for easy grading and immediate feedback for students
  • A 32-question Test Review (I recommend spending 2 days on this review)
  • 1 Unit Test (A & B versions, a Google Forms version and an Easel assessment version of Form A included)
  • Teacher and Student Version PDFs
  • Answer Keys with problems worked out

LESSONS WITH ASSIGNMENTS INCLUDE:

  • Lesson 1: An Introduction to Linear Functions
  • Lesson 2: Slope and Rate of Change
  • Lesson 3: Graphing Lines Day 1 (Slope-Intercept Form)
  • Lesson 4:Graphing Lines Day 2 (Convert from Standard to Slope-Intercept Form, then graph)
  • Lesson 5: Mini Lesson (Notes Only) - Equations of Horizontal and Vertical Lines
  • Lesson 6: x and y Intercepts
  • Lesson 7: Writing Equations of Lines Day 1 (Given the slope and a point)
  • Lesson 8: Writing Equations of Lines Day 2 (Given 2 points)
  • Lesson 9: Linear Equation Word Problems (graphic organizer, focusing on making connections) - I recommend taking two days
  • Lessons 10-11: Parallel and Perpendicular Lines (2 days) - Day 1: Understanding the relationship of the slopes of parallel and perpendicular lines. Day 2: Writing Equations of Parallel and Perpendicular lines.
  • Lesson 12: Transformations of Linear Functions (Notes only with opportunity for students to work some problems by themselves). These notes are thorough enough to use as a student exploration so students may "discover" the effects of various transformations on the graph. However; tutorial video notes are still included!
  • Lesson 13: An Introduction to Scatter Plots and Trend Lines
  • Lesson 14: Linear Regressions
  • Lesson 15: Correlation Coefficients (2 versions to calculate: notes include TI-83/84 option AND Desmos online option - great for distance learning if students do not have a graphing calculator at home)

  • Quiz #1 - after lessons 1-6
  • Quiz #2 - after lessons 1-10

  • Unit Test covers lessons 1-12 and DOES NOT assess Scatter Plots and Trend Lines. These are considered BONUS LESSONS in this bundle, so this product does not include a formal assessment over the concepts; however, it does include 3 days of notes AND assignments over scatter plots, linear regressions, extrapolating and interpolating, and using correlation coefficients to determine the strength of the data.

TUTORIAL VIDEOS! Tutorial videos over notes can be found on the Linear Functions Unit Playlist on my YouTube channel: Mandy's Math World.

Construct and interpret scatter plots for bivariate measurement data to investigate patterns of association between two quantities. Describe patterns such as clustering, outliers, positive or negative association, linear association, and nonlinear association.
Know that straight lines are widely used to model relationships between two quantitative variables. For scatter plots that suggest a linear association, informally fit a straight line, and informally assess the model fit by judging the closeness of the data points to the line.
Compare properties of two functions each represented in a different way (algebraically, graphically, numerically in tables, or by verbal descriptions). For example, given a linear function represented by a table of values and a linear function represented by an algebraic expression, determine which function has the greater rate of change.
Interpret the equation 𝘺 = 𝘮𝘹 + 𝘣 as defining a linear function, whose graph is a straight line; give examples of functions that are not linear. For example, the function 𝘈 = 𝑠² giving the area of a square as a function of its side length is not linear because its graph contains the points (1,1), (2,4) and (3,9), which are not on a straight line.
Construct a function to model a linear relationship between two quantities. Determine the rate of change and initial value of the function from a description of a relationship or from two (𝘹, 𝘺) values, including reading these from a table or from a graph. Interpret the rate of change and initial value of a linear function in terms of the situation it models, and in terms of its graph or a table of values.
