Limericks: A St. Patrick's Day Poetry Writing Activity

I incorporate poetry writing into my classroom every chance I get.

Limericks are a fun and creative way to reinforce poetry writing within your classroom.

They can be written on any topic but since they are often associated with Ireland, I have my students write St. Patrick's Day themed limericks every year. They are fun and silly and tie in well with this holiday.

This set includes the following:

~3 slides to show students (what is a limerick, elements of a limerick and an original sample)

~Black and white copies of the elements slide and sample poem

~Black line master of the shamrock for the final draft
