Description

Do you need some ideas for IEP Goals and Data Collection?

Do you want to work on meaningful skills in an inclusive classrooms?

Are you looking for ideas to apply functional skills?

This is a set of 14 rubrics:

  • Math (counting, fractions, time and calendar, money, community application)
  • Language Arts (basic reading, comprehension, writing, community application)
  • Health and Grooming
  • Safety
  • Cooking and Cleaning
  • Community Participation, Self Advocacy and Etiquette

I've used these extensively and find that they are a nice representation of all of the skills we cover in practical skills classes. They can be used as is, updating the mastery level each year. They can also be tailored to hone in on just a few skills for an individual, according to what IEP teams think is best.

Three of the rubrics (math, language arts, and community participation) include lists of activities to generalize skills. Many or most of them apply to community-based instruction. These skills provide a purpose for your community-based activities and a tie-in to IEPs.

Most of the skills can be used in an inclusive classroom. These lists can help you focus on the things that have a long-term payoff in terms of preparing students for their post-graduation life.

Several versions of IEP goals are provided, as well as some ideas for varying your rubric scoring. It's all about making it work for you and your students!

This can be a tool for vertical teaming among special education teachers. Talk about what can be done at each level to prepare students for the next level, and then use that information to plan instruction in either the resource room or a general education classroom.

Watch for more products to come with activities, worksheets, and data collection tools to address specific items in these rubrics.
