I've been teaching middle school science in a public school for over 20 years, mostly 7th and 8th grade. My husband, who helps out with my TPT store, has pretty much the same story!
Representation is key - kids will always see themselves and their community reflected in my classroom! Engagement is everything, so my classroom is light-hearted, welcoming, and fosters a safe atmosphere of exploration. Relationship-building is as important as curriculum standards. Student choice is offered regularly and assessments are differentiated. I follow NGSS standards closely but I'm not afraid to take an adventurous detour!
Yet to be added
I have a bachelor's degree in biology and a master's degree in nutrition. My nutrition research work has been published in several peer-reviewed nutrition journals. I became an educator through the MINT program, an initiative designed to bring real-world scientists and mathematicians into the teaching profession.
