Description
This Indigenous (Aboriginal, First Peoples, First Nations) orange shirt day mini unit is a meaningful printable package that gently teaches residential school history to primary and intermediate students through art projects and printable activities.
This resource is also used as a fundraiser for Indian Residential School Survivors Society and Orange Shirt Society.
Using the The Orange Shirt Story, or Phyllis's Orange Shirt, written by Phyllis Webstad, (unit does not include a digital version of the book), this unit provides an entry level look into residential schools, or could be used as a jumping off point into further inquiries. Alternately it could be used as a stand alone or Orange Shirt Day or National Indigenous Peoples Day (formerly known as Aboriginal Day).
