Lever Launcher - STEM Engineering Challenge - Simple Machines

What teacher doesn't love to use themes in the classroom?

As a STEM coordinator, I am always looking for creative ways for teachers to integrate STEM engineering and design challenges into their classroom activities. I decided to work on creating STEM Engineering Challenge Packs for some themes.

This STEM Challenge Activity is focused on the Lever!

Can each of your group members create a lever launcher that launches a penny the farthest combined distance in five tries?

Materials: (per group)

-Ruler or paint stir stick

-Scissors

-Empty toilet paper roll

-Pennies (or buttons)

-Tape measure

These STEM engineering and design challenges will bring Simple Machines and how each one works to life in your classroom! I have also included information pages about each type of simple machine!

Time to engineer those Simple Machines!
