This activity allows students to use task cards to match Lawrence Kohlberg’s Stages of Moral Development with the definition of each stage. Then, after introducing and going over the Heinz Dilemma with the class, the students can use additional task cards to match up with each of Kohlberg’s stages in order to better understand the motivations behind WHY people make the decisions that they do.

o Lawrence Kohlberg stage description task cards (x6)
o Reasons Heinz should steal the drug task cards (x6)
o Reasons Heinz should not steal the drug task cards (x6)
o Answer Key to match the stage with the description
o Answer key to match the stage with the different Heinz options.
Materials Needed:
• Print and cut out copies of the task cards (I would recommend laminating them)
