Description

32 illustrated slides about the scientific names for animal species. Questions addressed: how do genus and species and subspecies names work? Why does the scientific community use Latin for these names? What do the Latin names mean and what sort of information do they give us about the animals?

This is a fun, humorous, and informative presentation. Speaker notes include etymologies and additional notes for the teacher. Please open the preview to see the slideshow.

This pairs very well with my create and name your own subspecies activity available here.
