Latin Class Thanksgiving and Roman Food Activity Bundle

This bundle includes:

• A handout and worksheet about Roman food and dining customs with practice questions and activities (ancient Roman grocery list and menu creation).
• An English-to-Latin word search using vocabulary from the Roman food unit.
• A derivative hand turkey activity where the students explore a Latin root and its English derivatives with the option to write a short story with their example sentences.
• A cornucopia of gratitude activity that asks students to complete the statement "sum gratus/grata/grates pro..." (I'm thankful for...) with ablative nouns and small illustrations. This is a great way to incorporate student voice and build community in your classroom!
• A Latin thank you note activity, which comes with a list of sentence starters in Latin for students to use when writing to a friend, family member, or teacher.
• A game of PUGNATE (similar to Battleship) that uses the Roman food unit vocabulary to practice 1st, 2nd, and 3rd declension nouns in a competitive partner activity.
• A translation activity using the verb placere to express what people like to eat/don't like to eat. Students will translate RSVPs to a dinner party to create a menu that will make all of their guests happy!
