Latin Basics: Intro to Latin Unit
- Zip
Description
This unit was designed as an introductory unit for 7th grade students who experience Latin as one of several languages in a rotation.
This unit provides vocabulary so that students can talk about different language structures: parts of speech (focus on nouns, verbs, adjectives), gender of nouns (no neuter nouns included), adjective/noun agreement (mostly 1st and 2nd declension nouns), derivative practice, recognition based translation (i.e. not producing different endings).
Included in this unit:
- 3 drill/warm-up activities
- vocabulary list (student copy and teacher presentation)
- parts of speech activity
- speaking assessment script
- translation practice activity
- study guide
- quiz (with answer key)
- teacher notes for activities as well as links to additional digital resources that correspond to this unit (Nearpod, Wizer Me, Blooket, Gimkit, Kahoot, Quizlet, Hangman)
Note:
- Some activities assume student familiarity with the word "magistra" (or alternatively, "magister")
- No notes for derivatives are included, but I have a free copy of Derivative Notes if needed
- All files are .docx or .pptx so feel free to modify as necessary to fit your students :)
