Latin America Geography Unit with Guided Notes and Map Activities

This is a great unit to teach during Hispanic Heritage Month! Do you need comprehensive and engaging geography lessons about Latin America? Then this is for you! Students will learn about the geography of Mexico, South America, Central America, and the Caribbean Islands with this teacher presentation, guided note packet, project and activities!

This geography unit was designed to better support special education students, English language learners, and students that need extra support in social studies classes.

Include geography studies in your classroom and teach students about regional, cultural, physical, and economic geography for Latin America. Students will label and color maps for South American physical features (such as the Amazon Rainforest), South American countries, Central American countries, and Caribbean Island countries.

This mini book project on natural resources in Latin America is easy to differentiate with two options. Option 1 is creating a mini book that is a broad overview of many of the natural resources in Latin America. Option 2 is creating a mini book that is on a specific natural resource, like gold or copper, that is found in Latin America. Mini book templates, instructions, and grading rubric are included.

Students will discover what countries their clothes were made in and create bar graphs and color a world map to display the facts. This is scaffolded and easy to chunk for students by giving them one page at a time.

An adapted assessment and answer key is included, along with an editable version. You can use this as a pre- and post- assessment to demonstrate student growth.
