Language Arts 1st grade Unit

This unit contains two direct instruction lesson plans that are meant for first grade but could easily be adapted for younger or older grade levels. The lessons focus on language arts as well as science. One discusses the life cycle of a plant and what they need. The other lesson discusses symmetry within butterflies. There are 12 educational strategies also enclosed in the unit that can be used to teach varies skills and tasks. There is an alternative idea for how to assess students with books. The literary theme park that is attached is great for an alternative assessment that will allow students to be creative.
