Labor Division: Jobs in the Community

Get students thinking about jobs and production! This social living Promethean Activ Board flipchart teaches students to identify simple job descriptions, names of jobs, and demonstrate the community as a whole by describing different jobs that make up the community. The flipchart begins with a picture of a product, in which students are encouraged to use critical thinking by being asked what the product is, who utilizes it, and who makes it possible for them to enjoy the product. The next slides consist of an introduction and then to the lesson objectives. The next slide expands on the introductory page by revisiting the product the students saw in the first slide and shows a flowchart demonstrating the line of work and production it took to make the product. The next slide elaborates by showing the same concept with an ant colony and how they divide up labor. The next slide is a class (or group) activity in which students are encouraged to come up with jobs they will need to run a zoo. With the slide be sure to put the "blinder" up, as I have example answers written in on the slide. You can reveal the answers after students have contributed. The final slide is a lesson review slide.
