Description

This writing prompt is designed to address the new CCSS that requires a student to read and interpret text, write an essay using the writing prompt stem, and cite evidence with supporting details.

Writing Prompt:

“Queen of Gospel Music and The Golden Runner,” are both stories about the lives of two women who paved the road to greatness through determination and courage. Their stories still inspire people today.

Think about this! What if Mahalia Jackson and Wilma Rudolph had the opportunity to meet, what do you think would be the focus of their conversation? What would they talk about? Would they discuss how they are different or similar? Would they compare struggles?

Write an essay describing the conversation between Mahalia Jackson and Wilma Rudolph from your point of view. Support your response with details from both texts.
