Description

These color coded lanyard visuals / visual cue cards for preschool, kindergarten and special education (ECSE, SPED, Autism classrooms) make it easy to find the behavior visuals you need, when you need them! This printable includes Boardmaker visuals in two skin tones. These behavior visual cue cards are in rainbow order, resulting in a beautiful addition to your keychain.

These visuals are worded positively with simple statements that tell the student what to do, instead of what not to do (ex. indoor voice instead of don't yell).

The image that sits on top is good choice so that staff, students and parents see a positive message when they see you wearing your lanyard visuals. I love having this visual included as it allows me to provide positive reinforcement easily and often, which I find helps to reduce some challenging behaviors.

Indoor voice and quiet mouth are used instead of no talking, to remind students to use appropriate voice level, without making students feel they need to mask vocal stims.

I've included the picture symbols I use most often, including:

  • Good choice
  • Indoor voice (also quiet mouth option)
  • Hands to self
  • Sit (2 included - chair and floor)
  • Stand
  • Stop

Lanyard visuals are a powerful tool for special education teachers and paras working in autism classrooms, but also very helpful in preschool, prek, kindergarten and other general education environments.

These visual aids help both teachers and paras deliver non-verbal reminders which reduces interruptions during lessons. Great also for quiet environments (the library) and situations such as emergency drills.

Most students, including autistic students and ESL learners, process pictures faster, or more effectively than using language alone. Wear these visuals on your lanyard and help increase all students' understanding and compliance.
