Description
Kumbayah is a song with African-American roots but it loved and recognized all over the world. This version by DARIA does not use the traditional verses of “Someone’s crying, Lord… Someone’s smiling Lord” but instead uses verses about playing drums and shekeres and instruments from the traditional cultures of Africa. The video features four different types of drums seen in the diverse and beautiful cultures of Africa.
This video is a great addition to any unit about Africa, drums, traditional cultures or music in general.
