This is a lesson on kitchen equipment and tools that your students will encounter in the kitchen while cooking that includes a slideshow, reading, guided notes, questions and a matching activity.

This resource includes a 42-page colorful Google slideshow with large equipment and small wares that include real pictures and a brief description. It also includes a matching activity in both Google or printable PDF. Students match the correct piece of equipment with the picture as well as answer questions and brainstorm the items they would need to make specific meals.

Standards for Kitchen Equipment Lesson:

  • National Standards for FACS: 8.3.6 Identify a variety of types of equipment for food processing, cooking, holding, storing, and serving, including hand tools and small ware.
  • Prostart 1 Strand 11- Students will identify foodservice equipment used in a food service operation. List the different types of food preparation equipment and give examples of their uses. Identify the equipment needed for receiving and storing food and supplies.
