Description

This is a set of resources for viewing the film Kingdom of Heaven (2005) in your classroom. The movie depicts the Medieval Crusades of the 12th century. It is based on historical events and historical figures in the defense of Jerusalem, with added changes for dramatic effect (students will think through the factual and fictitious elements with movie analysis questions). The viewing guide is detailed and arranged in time-stamped sections. In addition to filling out the viewing guide questions, students will: Complete discussion questions that can be done individually or in small groups, do a character analysis, and be assessed with a quiz. These resources will help students to think critically about the movie's portrayal of the Crusades and glean the historical themes.
