Kindergarten Science States of Matter Solid and Liquid Unit (Snow Investigation)
- PDF
Description
Do you need to teach states of matter liquid and solids to your kindergarten students but you don't know where to begin?
This unit is perfect for our northern snowy states! You will lead your students as they learn about liquids and solids and develop an investigation into the question: What happens to snow if you bring it indoors?
Students will enjoy a fun outdoor activity where they will observe and collect snow in its solid form. Back in the classroom, they will witness an amazing transformation as they watch the snow melt into a liquid. Through hands-on exploration and observation, students will actively record and document this process, fostering an understanding of how temperature affects the state of matter. Developmentally appropriate worksheets and activities reinforce concepts and keep students engaged.
Included:
- Lesson plans for 5 days with options for extension
- Worksheets and Keys
- Assessment activity
I wrote this unit specifically to meet the New York State Science Learning Standard K-PS1-1 but it also meets the standard for many other states and is not state specific.
