What educators are saying

Your graphics are beautiful and I love printing, laminating them, and then referring to them throughout lessons. Thank you1

Description

Are you looking for high low, fast slow, and loud soft activities for Kindergarten music? These printable Kindergarten Flashcards are so much fun to use in music class! Each card set aligns with a major comparatives concept unit in Kindergarten music. These activities are perfect for preparing students for the concept, presenting the concept, and then assessing for comprehension.

⭐️ How do I use these cards? ⭐️

While singing a known song, I hold one of the cards to give students a visual of the concept. After preparing kinesthetically, I place both cards on the board (with magnets!) and let the students tell me which one they heard (aural) or point to the one they heard (visual).

To assess comprehension, I distribute the smaller cards and have students hold up the card that they hear. (We call this the secret spy game; they have to keep their card hidden so that only the teacher can see the "secret code.")

Use known songs, and sing the same song with both contrasting styles (ex. sing Snail, Snail fast and then slow, or chant Bee, Bee with your high voice and then low voice).

Later after presenting the concept name, students use these cards to choose how we will sing (composition) for the whole song or by phrase (form).

⭐️ What's included? ⭐️

This set includes large 1/2 page cards for teachers to hold, move to the steady beat, post on the board, or use for assessment (individual students choose the word/icon that they hear).

This set also includes small 1/4 page cards for the student to hold, move to the steady beat, or use for assessment (Students answer the question, "Which one did you hear?").

Each concept has:

  • a flashcard with the icon (picture) only
  • a flashcard with the icon and a word
  • and a flashcard with the word only for differentiation

Concepts include fast/slow, high/low, and loud/soft.
