Description

As a teacher, we always want great "hooks" for teaching functional grammar. The center of Madrid offers an array of cultural attractions that can draw students' interest into your lessons.

This Power Point file pulls students in using two techniques. First, this file acts as a GPS simulator of the Metro that is controlled by the teacher. As students indicate a path to a desired destination in Spanish, you can click on the interactive rail map and the path illuminates on the screen. The students will think it is "muy genial." It will get them thinking about global travel and visiting outside their own community, and actually build their skills for doing so in an experiential way.

Secondly, it offers an app-like "pop up" map that shows 6 highly popular stops on the Madrid Metro rail system, including sound effects. PicantePractices (Greg Sanchez) has provided you both with an abundance of research about the sites that pop up, as well as web-based homework assignments for your students, in Spanish, that get them looking around these sites in Madrid. The answers are included (on a separate page), so you can just print, copy, and go. Thanks for reading!
