Keyboarding for Kindergarteners! Making Keyboarding Fun!

Learning how to type is the focus of this activity! Keyboarding skills are vital for our students, especially in preparing them for those rigorous computer-based state tests in the future. This activity is a great way to build typing skills with your kindergarten students. All you need is a keyboard and these word cards! Don't have one? I have provided a printable keyboard in both Mac and PC versions. Students will choose a word, read the word, and "type" it on the keyboard.

I suggest using a nonfunctioning keyboard, cut off the wire, and voila! When your students' keyboarding skills have been mastered, have them type the words on a real keyboard and computer!
