Description

Keith Allen Haring was an American artist whose pop art emerged from the New York City graffiti subculture of the 1980s. His animated imagery has "become a widely recognized visual language".

My 4th class boys loved learning about Haring and they really enjoyed looking at his artwork especially the murals he had done on buildings.

After learning about Haring in this PowerPoint slideshow we did a 30 minute art lesson inspired by the style of Haring. This art activity is so accessible to students of all abilities and it allows students respond to Haring's work in a creative way. His work is great for encouraging class discussion/debate and the variety in his artwork engages students in talking about the elements of drawing.

This slideshow presentation contains the following information -> Introduction, Early Life, Life in New York, His Rise to Fame, The Radiant Baby, Art for Everyone, The Pop Shop, Social Justice and Activism, Keith Haring's Legacy, Famous Artworks and a Drawing Activity.
