Kafka on the Shore Unit Plan

Kafka on the Shore. Wow! There's so much to unpack in this mind bending novel! I use this for IB students, but it can be modified for any level.

This unit includes:

• links to articles about relevant elements in the text
• chapter questions from the first part of the story that can be done independently, in pairs, groups, or as a class discussion
• holistic questions that can be done independently, in pairs, groups, or as a class discussion
• a fun group project designed to help students 'figure out' the story
• essay prompts are designed to encourage analytical, literary-based responses.
• an existential play list
• conflict chart to encourage more in-depth identification of conflict

This unit takes about four weeks.
