Description

Over 75 pages!

Big Ideas, Essential Questions, Competencies, Vocabulary, etc...

If your head is spinning and you've no clue where to begin, then start right here. This is an original contemporary art curriculum for K-5 grades.

This is an editable file, so you may adjust accordingly in Microsoft Word, with a PDF for your convenience as well. I have included big ideas with resources listed, ways to incorporate technology, suggested activities, and assessment options. If you follow this curriculum, your whole year will be planned for you. You may use your own creativity to guide the execution of your art activities! NOTE: these are not individual lesson plans; this curriculum includes all of the above sections formatted to guide you.

This curriculum incorporates literature, writing, science, history, and math connections.

Each grade level follows an overarching theme, as follows:

K - Literature Connections

1 - Markmaking

2 - Color

3 - Ancient Art History

4 - Abstract/Realism

5 - Shape and Design

Included with each grade's curriculum are the (June 2014) National Art Education Standards. This alone is a handy reference tool for lesson planning.

I've included the fourth grade curriculum as a free preview.

**REVISED JULY 2017 TO INCLUDE easy, embedded hyperlinks and literacy connections with an art focus for each unit!
