Teacher’s Guide:

Discussion Questions- The prompted questions are ready for you! I love to print this out and have it next to the book so I can easily stop and ask questions while reading.

Comprehension Placemat – Helpful in small group or reading center. I also have used this for morning work the day after the read aloud. Students will go over sequencing, character traits, inferencing and cause and effect.

Extension Read on Mathew Brady – I loved doing the research on this great American photographer. Students will read on his important influence and then answer five great comprehension questions. This would work great for a social studies grade while incorporating art history!

AR Quiz Tickets – This is more for the teacher. I like use these in small group settings. If you are going to read this story with a group, send them to their desk with the quiz number in their hand so they can take an Accelerated Reader quiz when you move to your next group.
