Description

Your requests have been heard and FINALLY answered! Here they are, my "art magic" slides!!

I use these slides at the start of every class to teach scaffolded drawing instruction, art history, and allow students to respond to the artwork (NCAS) during the first 3-6 minutes of class). Once your students are in the habit, these slides allow your students to come in silently, instantly start working and it gives you a bit of a breather between classes.

My students love these mini-lesson art slides! This is part 1 (the first 20 days) of 5 of my slide collection. I use 36 slides a year. The same slide is used in all of my classes and then my slides are rotated every 3 years (example the slides a student sees their kindergarten year they will see again in third grade). Students seem to enjoy this set up as the "story of the art" evolves based on the age of the class.

If you would prefer a different version of these slides (not google), please email after purchase with your name, email address, and the type of final you prefer.

My students draw using the sketchbook that I created. However, any sketchbook will work well. https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Johanna-Russells-Choice-Based-Art-Sketchbook-3949438 In my sketchbooks students write the Art Day at the top of all drawings so that it allows me to easily see and track growth during the year/ rotation.

My students follow "art magic" with my video slides.

These slides can be used in a TAB/ Choice-Based Art Room to maintain consistency in drawing/ art history instruction or they can be used in a traditional classroom.

Each slide includes:

The art, an image of the artist, a dot on a world map for where the art(ist)is from, slide notes with detailed directions of the mini-lesson instructions/ assessment methods I use, links to more information about the art/artist, and content information (artist, locations, and title). FYI: In my experience, the date tends to dilute the relevance of the work for K-8 students so I make general references to the age of the work as it applied to the learning, but I keep the focus more on the age of the artist when it was made or general information about the time period.

The art I select is meant to representing current artists, diverse cultures, diverse artist experiences (disabilities/genders/ geographical influences) as well as traditional art history knowledge. The AP Art History images/ artists/ cultures were used as a starting point for the slides collected. When a specific art piece might not be appropriate for younger students or is not available due to copy-right an alternative art image might be used while maintaining the artist.

As a general truth: 50% of the slides are Art History-Based and 50% of the slides are about current, practicing artists.
