What educators are saying

I use this as progress monitoring for my 12th grade students with autism and ID. Great resource to practice life skills
I loved the 1 page, 2 page or 3 page options. It gave the students an opportunity to see different types and different questions. Thanks.

Description

Teaching the older students in my Life Skills classroom about entering the work force can be challenging. Job applications are daunting and confusing. Finding job applications online that I can print out has become more difficult, since most businesses want you to sign up with an email address or get one in person. I created this 45 page unit so that I would always have an arsenal of applications to meet the interests of each student.

Included in this unit are 21 different job applications. They are separated into 3 different sections: Services, Food Service, and Retail. The applications are created with high-interest business titles and real graphics that will be appealing to young adults. Each application has questions relating to the unique business, (for instance food service applications will inquire about food handler’s cards, but retail businesses will not). The job applications also vary in length, from 1 page per application to 3 pages per application. This lets you ease your students into longer applications slowly. This is a GROWING BUNDLE, which means that as I create new applications they will be available for you at no extra cost!

Extension Activity: These applications would be a perfect way for your students to practice interpersonal skills. For a richer learning experience, a lesson is included that will ask the students to go out of their comfort zone, and actually go ask people for applications. Just distribute these applications and the included question form to trusted school staff within your buildings. Then ask your students to find each staff member to “Ask for an application”, just as they would at a real business. You can prep your staff members with the included questionnaire sheet to give them questions to ask your students. Use the feedback that staff provide to reteach any concepts that your students need to improve on. Approaching a business to ask for an application is an intimidating experience! Giving your students practice ahead of time will give them a step up on their competition!
