Jasper Johns Numbers

This Project is inspired by Jasper Johns. The introduction includes visual artworks by the artist. Student examples are shown for students to discuss expectations and skill in an artwork. The flipchart goes step by step to help students create a grid on their paper and fill it with numbers, letters, and patterns. This lesson can even be strongly based around color theory. The Jasper Johns project ties in many standards and even includes the math standard of measuring with a ruler.
Some students would even use the numbers they created on their artwork to make up math problems to study.
This is a great project that I do every year and the kids love it. It is full of color, they get to use their imagination, and they get to learn about an artist from their home state of GEORGIA.
